Making decisions, we often do it on our gut feeling. We know that it is good to include more data in our decisions, but to do so also costs energy. This podcast was aired on BNR news radio as a series of three podcasts about data science with professors from Maastricht University and the Brightlands Institute for Smart Society (BISS). Lisa Brüggen is a guest on this podcast talking about decision-making based on data.

Lisa is a busy bee. She is a Professor of Financial Services at the School of Business and Economics. She is also a member of the NIBUD Supervisory Board, conducts research and has a lot of contact with behavioural economists and psychologists. She is an internationally recognised expert in services marketing and financial decision making and believes in the role of digitalisation and data science in our lives.

“Data science helps to make a more informed and factual decision,” says Lisa. With data, you learn to check whether your goal has the desired effect. But how do you ensure this as an organisation? According to Lisa, this is quite easy and can be applied everywhere. “The quality of data is super important,” says Lisa.
