Large institutional investors believe that companies are making too little progress to achieve the climate goals. Research by Climate Action 100+ shows that large companies have a lot of nice words about sustainability, but that they are not yet taking much concrete action. “This report is a kind of benchmark, a zero measurement”, thinks Rob Bauer, Professor of Finance and Institutional Investors at Maastricht University.
Bauer: “Many companies write that they will be net-zero by 2050. But they don’t say how they are going to do that, the goals are long term, but how are they going to implement it? You also need short-term goals for that.”
