People do not always decide rationally but are subject to behavioural biases. However, it could be said that human behaviour is ‘predictably irrational’, which brings along great opportunities for those who want to improve their decision-making procedures.
During this Tea & Talent session, Edward Huizenga introduce participants to the essentials of behavioural science, provided an example of a survey on predictably irrational behaviour, and sketched ways to learn how behavioural ‘classics’ are used in the business practice field.
Edward Huizenga is Endowed Professor at UMIO | School of Business & Economics | Maastricht University. His key expertise and research entail strategy, innovation and behaviour change. Edward is also partner at Benthurst & Co, a strategy & innovation consulting firm in Amsterdam, Brussel and Zurich. He teaches in the executive MBA programmes at UMIO, TIAS, INSEAD, University of Amsterdam and NTU Singapore Nanyang Technology University. Edward holds an MSc degree in Economics and PhD degree in Innovation Management from Maastricht University. Edward Huizenga is the author of 7 management books including the recent book Strategy Meets Behaviour on applying behaviour design principles.
This session represents one of three parallel presentations that are part of the online Tea & Talent event Behavioural Insights & Change, organised on 4 November 2021 by UMIO in partnership with the UM Behavioural Insights Centre (UM-BIC) and the Behavioural Insights Network Netherlands (BIN-NL).
